Bye Bye Binks!!
So everyone has a different opinion of what is right and wrong, good and bad and we all have to make our own decisions. I decided that we really needed to start breaking Saige of her binks before we ran into a problem. I started right around her first birthday b/c I was home on my last week of disability immediately followed up by a few vacation days. We decided to break her slowly by only allowing her to have it at naps and bedtime. I have to say that we are going on three weeks and she's been really great about it. If I notice her hands in her mouth (I don't want her to start sucking her thumb) I immediately give her a frozen teether. If she gets really cranky, we just try distracting her with different things like books and toys, changing the room she is in, etc. A huge thing is "out of sight, out of mind". The minute she is up, the binks is put away and we don't leave them lying around for her to stare at and cry over. My goal is to completely have her broken by 16 months but they say do it slowly so they don't feel deprived.
