Saige's First Birthday Invitation

Here is Saige's birthday invitation which Aunt Feara created and myself, Pop-Pop and Uncle Jason put together. Since her theme is Abby Cadabby I wanted to incorporate fairy into her invitation somehow so I came up with the following poem "Time flies when fairies are having fun. Can you believe it, Saige is turning one!" The party is very small, just immediate family but it still meant a lot to me to have a theme and make the party really special!

I have to start on the decorations soon, the time is flying and Saige's birthday will be here before we even know it!! I received her tutu a few weeks ago but won't post those pictures until after, I want it to be a surprise. The headband came out beautiful as well. I highly recommend Tiara's Boutique which is where I purchased the customized tutu and headband from. I told her exactly what I wanted and it came out better than I even expected. Jason's cousins give us all of their hand me downs (they have a ridiculous amount!) and in yesterday's batch I found the perfect shoes to match her outfit. Can't wait to post the pictures, stay tuned...

Envelope Bunnies

We wanted to give a little present to our family for the Easter holiday. I decided that we would

dress Saige up in her Easter best and print pictures for the whole fam. I wanted to do something Easter themed to give the picture in and found the perfect thing, ENVELOPE BUNNIES! I was on Martha Stewart (of course) and came across this project. It's extremely easy and I have written all of the steps for you and taken pictures along the way. I hope you like the idea or a derivative of it!

Items you will need:

A white or pink envelope - I used a 9 1/2 x 6 1/2 inch envelope for a big enough pouch to fit a 4 x 6 photo

Pink construction paper

Glue

Scissors

Pom-poms for noses

Pencil

Trace bunny ears on the backside of the envelope in pencil. Cut out shapes.

Trace a smaller bunny ear on the pink construction paper and cut out. Glue the inner pink ear on the outer white ear as shown.

You can either use marker to draw a set of eyes or cut out brown construction paper and glue them on.

Use the pom-poms for a cute little bunny nose and draw the little bunny mouth (also shown).

Now you will have an Easter themed pouch that can hold treats or pictures or gift cards. Hope you like the project and check back soon for another one as Mother's Day is fast approaching!

Easter Egg Dyeing 101

When we were little, we always dyed Easter eggs with my parents. We always wanted to dye more, more, but the one thing was that my parents would say, not too many eggs or else you have to eat them and they were disgusting!!! So, now that I have my own daughter, I definitely want to keep this tradition alive and did a little research on how to dye the eggs. I always like to do crafty things so I went on Martha Stewart.com and found her egg dyeing 101 information. Here is a list of things you will need to dye your basic egg:

To Dye the Eggs

You need the following items:

Hard Boiled Eggs

Food Coloring

White Vinegar

Paper Towels

Egg Drying Station (link to follow)

Mix 1 teaspoon of white vinegar with 20 drops of food coloring (use more for a more intense color) with 1 cup of hot water.

Make sure to use a heatproof bowl that is deep enough to completely submerge the egg.

You can vary the shades of color: for a lighter color, lett the egg sit for less than 5 minutes or for a darker color, leave the egg in for 10 minutes or more.

Pull the egg out, let sit on drying rack for 15 minutes to dry.

You will need the following items:

1/2-inch foam core, cut into about a 10-inch square

Pencil

Ruler

Pins

Use 1/2 inch of foam core cut into a 10-inch square (you can make it as big or as small as you want)

Using a pencil and ruler, draw a grid
